4 Easy Steps For Creating VCD CD’s

Required Programs:

1.  Smartripper

2.  DVD2AVI

3.  TMPGENC

4.  NERO-BURNING-ROM

 

 

Step 1 (SMARTRIPPER)

  1. Create a folder on your desktop and name it as the movie you will be creating

  2. Play the movie in your DVD Movie Player (Power DVD, etc…)

  3. See Picture

  4. Open Smartripper

    1. See Picture

    2. Click ok

    3. Click settings

    4. Go to the movie and stop the movie

    5. Make sure the file size is larger than the required disk space ex. (4000MB)

    6. Click Ok

    7. Click on the target folder icon at the bottom of the program

    8. A window should open up

    9. Locate the folder you created in your desktop using the opened window

    10. Click Save

    11. This process should take about 20 minutes

    12. When process is completed close Smartripper

 

Step 2 (DVD2AVI)

   

  1. Open up DVD2AVI

  2. Go to File then Open

  3. Locate the folder with the files you created in Smartripper    See Picture

  4. Click on the first one

    1. Should all be in order

  5. Click Ok

  6. Press f5 and let the movie play for a few seconds

  7. Write down the aspect ratio (should be 16:9 or 4:3) you’ll need later

  8. Write down whether its NTSC or Progressive

  9. Go to Audio at top

    1. Track number

                       i.      Make sure that track 1 is selected

    1. Channel Format

                             i.      Make sure Dolby Digital is selected

    1. Dolby Digital

                             i.      Make sure Decode and Dolby Surround Downmix are selected

                             ii.      Go to Dynamic Range Control and make sure that normal is selected

    1. MPEG Audio

                              i.      Make sure Demux is selected

    1. 48 à 44.1 Khz

                              i.      Make sure Ultra High is selected

    1. Normalization should be selected

  1. Go to File, Save Project at top

    1. Make sure you are saving in the folder on your desktop named as the Movie you are creating

    2. Name the file as the name of the Movie and Click Save

  2. This Process will take about as long as the movie as

    1. Example

                       i.      1 hr movie takes about 1 hr

  1. When finished close DVD2AVI

 

  Step 3  (TMPGENC)

   

  1. Open TMPGENC

  2. Click Next

  3. Go to Browse for the video file

    1. Locate the video file you created form DVD2AVI in the movie folder on your desktop

    2. Will load

  4. Go to Browse for the audio file

    1. Locate the audio file you created from DVD2 AVI in the movie folder on your desktop

  5. Make sure the aspect ratio is the same as the same one you wrote down

  6. Click next twice

  7. Click on the down arrow which is next to {CD-R 74min (VCD/SVCD) }

    1. Set it to CD-R 80 min (VCD/SVCD)

  8. Then go to the Expert button

    1. Go to the video tab at the top

                             i.      Go down to the motion search precision

                             ii.      You can set it to either high quality or highest quality

1.      Highest quality will create a better picture

    1. Go to the Advanced tab at the top

                              i.      Go to the source aspect ratio part

1.      Select the one that is closest to the info you wrote down earlier

                              ii.      Go to the Video arrange method

1.      Select Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)

  1. Click Ok

  2. Click Next

  3. Click Yes

  4. Make sure that the output file is correct

    1. If not go to Browse

    2. Locate the movie folder on your desktop

    3. Save the file name as the name of the movie your creating

    4. Click Save

  5. Make sure start encoding immediately is selected and create another projects for batch encoding is not selected

  6. Click ok Twice

  7. This Process should take about 2hrs or depending on your computer speed, the length of the movie, and the quality

TMPGENC (Continued......)

 

  1. Once this has completed go to File, MPEG Tools

    1. Click on the Merge and cut Tab at the right

    2. Click on add

    3. Locate the Mpeg file you created earlier in the movie folder on your desktop

    4. Click Open

    5. Movie should appear in the column

    6. Left click it once to highlight it

    7. Click Edit

    8. A window should pop up and at the bottom of the window there should be a arrow pointing down on the line

    9. Depending on the size of the movie will depend on where you drag the arrow but for an 1hr & half you should put it about the center

    10. Click on the } button

    11. Write down the number from the second range box

    12. Click Ok

    13. The window should close and click on browse to save the file

    14. Locate the movie folder from your desktop

    15. Name and Save the file as the movie

    16. Then click Run

    17. Should take 5-10 minutes

    18. ---------------------------------

    19. When done left click on the movie in the column once to highlight it

    20. Click Delete

    21. Click Add

    22. Locate the movie again and click open

    23. Left click on it once to highlight it

    24. Click Edit

    25. In the first range box type in the number you wrote down earlier from the first range box

    26. In the second range box it should say last

                          i.      If it doesn’t drag the arrow all the way to the right and click the } button

    1. Click Ok

    2. Click Browse

    3. Locate the movie folder, type the same name but with a 2 at the end of it

    4. Click Save

    5. Click Run

    6. Should take about 5-10 minutes

    7. When done close TMPGENC

Step 4  (Nero Burning Rom)      See Picture

  1.      Open up Nero Burning Rom

2.      The Wizard window should pop up

3.      Select (Compile a new CD)

4.      Click Next

5.      Select (Other CD Formats)

6.      Click Next

7.      Select (Video CD)

8.      Click Next

9.      Click Finish

10.  Wizard window should close

11.  Minimize Nero and open up the movie folder on your desktop

12.  Click Back on Nero to bring it back up

13.  Drag the first movie into the blank area around the bottom left of Nero          See Picture

14.  Go to file, Write CD

15.  Make sure the speed is set at 8x (1,200 KB/s)

16.  Click Burn

17.  Should take about 10 minutes

18.  When done repeat this process the same for the second section of the movie

19.  When done repeat this process
